Lara then, in her most sexy British accent, will subtly guide you in the right direction. Simplifying matters even further is the fact that you can now head on to your Field Manual (accessible via the main menu) as and when you find yourself getting lost. Luckily for us the game is super easy in a way that it offers a checkpoint every few seconds so you really don’t have to worry about backtracking a lot. Also, the camera in this game has the annoying knack of spazzing out on you at the most crucial time, resulting in Lara’s untimely death. Lara continuously gets stuck in a plethora of objects in the environment that not only hamper platforming but make basic movement a chore as well. The game’s also plagued by severe glitches and clipping issues that crop up ever so often. Try to veer away from the pre-determined path set by the game and you’ll be met with failure. Rinse and repeat for the next seven hours or so.Įven though the series has been around for nearly twelve years Lara can only go where the game wants you to go (you'd think by now platforming would have evolved to a level where players could actually choose their own path). Enter a particular area, explore the crap out of it, flip certain levers, move certain objects, shoot the crap of the creatures that suddenly spawn from thin air and platform your way to the exit. If you’ve played any Tomb Raider game in the past you’ll pretty much be at ease with what Underworld has to throw at you. In true Tomb Raider fashion, Tomb Raider Underworld (TRU) takes Lara to a plethora of diverse locations - from underwater ruins to ancient temples, to the land of the Dead and many more – all of which are gorgeously rendered thanks to the game's spanking new engine (more on that in a bit).
